Our Story

Apis & Flos was born from a simple but powerful idea: caring for ourselves should also care for the world around us.

As a mother of three, an artist, and a heritage conservationist, I’ve always looked to nature for guidance. My children’s sensitive skin — and my desire to protect both them and the landscapes we love — inspired me to create gentle, natural skincare rooted in tradition and ecology.

The spark came in an unexpected way: after being shamed by a neighbor for letting dandelions bloom in my yard, I realized how misunderstood these resilient flowers — and the pollinators they nourish — truly are. That moment pushed me to lean deeper into the wild, to embrace slowness, and to create something that celebrates what so many overlook. From hand-foraging goldenrod on the roadsides, to weeks-long slow infusions, to sharing remedies that connect us back to community, Apis & Flos is about honoring the wisdom of the land.

Our name, Apis & Flos (Latin for “bees and flowers”), is a reminder that healthy skin and healthy ecosystems are inseparable. Each balm is handcrafted with wild-foraged botanicals, slow-infused oils, and beeswax — a small act of care for skin and for the earth.

Our Seasonal Balms

To reflect the natural rhythms of the seasons, we create two handcrafted blends each year:

🌞 Soleil — A Fall balm that brings warmth and light to colder days. Crafted with echinacea, goldenrod, calendula, lavender, and shea butter, Soleil soothes and protects dry skin while carrying the memory of late-summer fields.

✨ Étoile — A Winter balm inspired by the quiet strength of northern landscapes. Infused with cedar, pine, rosehip, and yarrow — and brightened with peppermint — Étoile restores and refreshes the skin, echoing the clarity of crisp winter nights under the stars.

🌼 Coming Soon: Terre (Dandelion) — Our Spring/Summer release will celebrate the resilience of dandelions, one of the first flowers to feed pollinators each spring. Light and golden, this balm will launch with the season, carrying forward our cycle of nature-based care.
